The inspiration for my work is always evolving but I am currently working on a series of prints featuring artisans – crafts people who are passionate about making beautiful, unique objects with their hands. I love including pattern in everything I draw, whether it’s on the clothing someone is wearing, a background for a print, or in nature itself; it’s really important to me.
I live in Maidenhead, Berkshire; about 30 minutes west of London, with my husband and miniature schnauzer Rosie (two boys grown up and flown the nest, kind of). I’m incredibly lucky to have a studio in my garden where I can escape to but I’m equally happy working at the kitchen table. I also attend a weekly printmaking class near me – I love being with other creatives and seeing what they’re up to. Plus the ancient printing press in the workshop is the bees knees in printing! As you can see, I’m a bit obsessed with lino printing and, for me, seeing a lino coated in ink on the first magical roll after hours of cutting really is just like Christmas! (as Angela Harding said when I saw her at a talk in London).
